FAQ - Frequently asked questions

1. Does a customer have to have climbing experience before coming to Flowpark?

No, he doesn’t. The use of equipment can be learned easily. Personnel guides all customers to use climbing gear. In addition, every customer has to demonstrate correct use of equipment on a test trail before entering the adventure trails.

2. Is it safe to climb on the trails?

All climbing, as well as excercising in general, includes risks. With good safety arrangements and right behavior risks can be minimized. Flowpark follows safety standards SFS 15567-1 and SFS 15567-2 of the Finnish Standards Association SFS, which define the safety norms for adventure trail structures and for the use of trails. The condition of the trails is checked with regular routines. We use high quality gear of a leading climbing equipment brand. The gear is checked after each use. When a customer also follows the safety instructions and guidance of personnel, he can climb without concerns. Just in case, Flowpark has taken an insurance for accidents.

3. Why the right to enter the trails depends on the height of the person?

The trails are classified into four difficulty levels. The order from the easiest to the most difficult is green, blue, red, and black. The structures of different levels is designed so that on the more difficult trails a greater reach is required. Therefore a height limit has been set for the trail. If a customer is above 120 cm tall, he/she can perform green and blue trails normally. On red and black trails a greater reach is needed. Therefore the height limit is 150 cm there. For small children, and for everyone who want to test a very easy trail first, there is a separate Mini-trail, which goes close to the ground. Parents can follow right besides their child on this trail.

4. If some of the family members want to come climbing, can the others come watching to the park?

Yes, the entry to the park is free. To get to the adventure trails you have to pay the entrance fee, against which you get the climbing equipment on hire. Family members can walk around in the park area, and for example save in photos or on video unforgettable moments of the climbing family members' adventures in the height.

5. Is it possible to use own climbing equipment in Flowpark?

No, it’s not. Flowpark is responsible for safety of the equipment used in the park. Therefore we cannot accept any other gear than the ones, which go through our regular quality control.

6. What is a suitable clothing on the trails, will the clothes get dirty?

A suitable clothing depends on the weather. It is possible to climb on the trails on hot summer weather, in freezing cold, on a sunny day or when it’s raining. We recommend an outdoor clothing, which suits to the weather and shoes suitable for exercising. Gloves that give a good grip are comfortable in hands. Don’t use loose and hanging clothes (e.g. a scarf), which may get stuck to trail structures or shoes with high heels or sandals. You don’t need any special equipment. Clothes do not get specially exposed to dirt, but as the trails are built on living trees, it is possible that traces of trees or trail structures will appear to your clothes. Don’t use very sensitive clothes or clothes that are difficult to clean up.

7. What happens, if I can’t make a task on a climbing trail?

If you get exhausted or lose faith in your ability, you will stay hanging from the safety wire with your harness. While hanging, on most of the trails you can still pull yourself to the next platform, where you can continue your adventure. If a person cannot move, he/she can call personnel. Then personnel will come and let you down safely with a rope.

8. Is it mandatory to pass the test trail, if I have been climbing before and know how to use the gear?

You can skip the test trail with an instructor’s permission, if you have been registered to Flowpark’s customer register and if you have previously demonstrated that you can use the equipment correctly. Then you need to have a Flowpark’s loyalty card and personal ID with you. Without a loyalty card the test trail is mandatory.

9. Is it possible to come have fun on the adventure trails in a bachelor party?

Yes you can, if all climbers are fully sober. Under the influence of alcohol it is forbidden to go to the trails. It’s better to open the bottles only after the visit to Flowpark.

10. Is it possible to go to the shopping centre in the middle of flowparking and then come back and continue?

No it’s not. You have to stay in the park area with the climbing equipment. If you get thirsty or hungry, you can buy drinks, snacks and sweets from FlowCafé in the park. There is also a toilet in the park. If you want to leave the park area, you have to return the gear to the rental point.
